About Me

Hello, hello!

I was that kid who was infected with the horse bug from a very young age. In fact, my earliest memories are of me wanting to own a horse! I have the most loving parents in the world who have put up with this obsession of mine all these years. I think they hoped it was a "phase", sadly their wish didn't come true... Here I am now is college and just as horse obsessed as ever!

I became a horse owner in February of 2012 when I was fifteen. My neighbor (hence the name of this blog) gave me a tall bay mare named Mya. At the time we thought she was around 12, but we found out later she was more like 20! As it would be, I would learn many, many things about horse ownership in the years to come. Mya was such an amazing horse to put up with me during that rocky learning transition time! She always carried herself with dignity, even when I tacked her up in the wrong things... (Let's not even mention the first bit and bridle I bought for her...) I owned Mya for three wonderful years, and she is one of the most remarkable horses I have ever met.

My second horse joined the farm after I had owned Mya for two years. Once again a free one. I guess I have this face that begs people to give me horses... I honestly don't know what it is guys! Lady (or more commonly known as "Lou") is a 14hh opinionated quarter horse mare. She is quite facially animated, but is as docile as can be. She certainly makes my life interesting, and I'm pretty sure she carries on conversations with me in her mind. Turns out though, that Lady had laminitis when she was given to me. So she now spends her days as a retired trouble maker. Make sure you lock the gate properly when you leave the pasture... I've gone out numerous days to discover that she has let herself out!

Me? I am now a sophomore in college, and I'm studying Business Administration. And before you ask, yes, I am actually really enjoying that field! My dream is to one day own and run my own self-sustaining horse farm. I don't see horses fading out of my life anytime soon...
